What is the difference between Silversmithing & Silver Clay?
Silver clay is a soft and malleable modelling clay mixed with silver particles that you can shape by hand, then fire to get pure silver jewellery. Silversmithing uses solid silver pieces that are cut, hammered, and soldered together with specialized tools. Silver clay is easier for beginners, while silversmithing creates stronger, more complex pieces.
Please note that with the exception of our Silver Clay workshops, the materials are not included in the course fee as the cost will depend on your individual project. Materials can be purchased from your tutor on the day at the current market rate.
