What Will I Study?

Students will learn about and experiment with sheet metal and wire, using a variety of jewellery tools to make unique and personal pieces. Following discussion and guidance from the tutor, students will decide what they would like to make and will work on their own projects throughout the course. Specific guidance and support can be given to those attending the course on an open studio basis, to enable completion of their own individual projects.

You may cover:

  • Designing and cutting
  • Filing and drilling
  • Polishing, texturing and annealing
  • Soldering, cleaning and wirework.

Other techniques may be on offer if required, such as casting – please ask the tutor if this is of interest to you.

An estimated guideline to costs, which covers all the basic materials needed for the course, including silver sheet, semi-precious stones and wire, will be approximately £55, payable direct to the tutor. Contactless card payments can be accepted.  The materials fees are charged on weight of metals used based on current market value.
