This is a part-time course for people already working or volunteering in an Early Years setting with children from birth to 5 years. Students will also gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.
Upon achievement of this qualification learners will be able to enter the workforce as Early Years Educators. The qualification is awarded by NCFE.
What Will I Study?
The course involves attending college for 3 hours a week for 29 weeks and attending your Early Years placement alongside this. Class sessions are taught up until June and assessment in the work place will follow on from this until February. This qualification takes between 12 -15 months to complete.
There are four themes to be completed throughout the qualification. These themes will include:
health and well-being
legislation frameworks and professional practice
play
development and learning for school readiness and professional development
Entry Requirements
Applicants should be aged 19 or over. Please note that unless already achieved, you will need to gain Maths and English GCSE grade C/4 and above (or equivalent) by the end of the qualification to enable you to become a licenced practitioner.
Progression
This course can lead to a Foundation Degree in Early Years followed by a BA (Hons) in Early Years. Both of these qualifications are run at Peter Symonds College.
