Overview

If you would like to immerse yourself in a progression of novel and absorbing art activities, both collaborative and individual, this course could well be a good fit for you. The aim will be to enable you to loosen up, be bold in your approach to painting and drawing, explore your own creativity, be playful and potentially even get a little bit messy….. for the cause of art of course!

What Will I Study?

Under the guidance of your tutor, you will explore ways to visually respond to given themes, sounds, textures, subject matter and also through interactions with fellow students. This will include a variety of approaches to drawing and painting, from both observation and imagination.

You will explore ways to combine colours and create compositions, both abstract and figurative. Your tutor will often demonstrate from the front to help enhance your immersion in the activities.

Some collaging may be included in the range of activities. During the day, you will generate a range of drawing, painting and mix media outcomes, but the journey and the experience will also be a key take away.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific entry requirements to participate in this day of art. It may be an advantage if you have already handled acrylic paint, but ultimately if you are curious about, open to, and on the lookout for an art experience…..and prepared to roll your sleeves up, please do sign up!

Materials

If you have an art kit, bring it along. Acrylics, brushes, palette, rags/tissue, masking tape, collage material, pencil, sharpener….these are all really useful, (acrylic paint will be used in the workshop).

There will however be materials available at the workshop as a backup if required.

Progression

If you are looking to progress in art and design, do speak to your tutor and he/she will be happy to advise.
