Overview

This course is designed for complete beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of the Greek language. It will introduce the Greek alphabet, basic grammar and essential vocabulary, enabling students to communicate in everyday situations. Whether you're learning for travel, personal growth, or future studies, this course will give you a solid foundation in both spoken and written Greek. 

What Will I Study?

Throughout the course, you will:

  • Learn the Greek alphabet and proper pronunciation
  • Cover basic speaking, listening, reading and writing skills  
  • Build a practical vocabulary for common topics, such as introductions, ordering food, and asking for directions
  • Explore aspects of modern Greek culture and customs through language exercises.

Entry Requirements

This course is open to complete beginners with no prior knowledge of Greek. No formal qualifications are required, just a willingness to learn. 

Materials

You may need to purchase a text book, which will be discussed in the first session. You will need to bring a pen and paper for note-taking. Additional handouts and audio resources will be provided to support your learning. Access to a Greek-English dictionary is recommended. 

Progression

Upon completion of this introductory course, you will have the option to progress to a more advanced course, subject to sufficient demand. This will allow you to further develop your Greek skills and advance your proficiency in Greek.
