This course is for students who have already studied the language for 4 years or equivalent and have consolidated their pre-intermediate knowledge of Italian. You should be able to talk about a range of topics, using the present and past tenses, with some knowledge of the future and conditional tenses.
Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the materials used during lessons and refer to the course book.
What Will I Study?
You will continue to expand your vocabulary and grammar using all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) on practical topics to enable you to communicate about your personal experiences, tastes and opinions.
You will:
revise the use of the present, past, imperative, future and conditional tenses
learn how to express your opinion using the congiuntivo (subjunctive)
learn colloquial and idiomatic expressions to improve your spoken Italian
use a designated course book to support grammar work and enrich learning about a wide range of topics
Entry Requirements
To join at this level, you should already possess the following skills:
be able to understand day to day conversations in Italian and to engage using simple language
be able to understand intermediate texts that use present, past and future tenses
be able to talk about your past experiences and habits, as well as daily routines
be able to write a text using present, past tenses and future tenses.

Please bring pen, paper and a folder. Course books will be discussed at the first session.
Progression
We offer a Semester 2 course that begins immediately after Semester 1 and is an integral part of the course, the exact length of which will be decided in the spring term. You would then be able to progress to the next level.
