Overview

This evening workshop is an introduction to delft casting. It is suitable for those who are complete beginners to jewellery and silversmithing, as well as those with more jewellery experience, who wish to learn new techniques. It offers an opportunity to learn and apply the basic skills of delft casting using silver.

What Will I Study?

This is a real 'hands-on' opportunity to learn how to cast. Delft casting is a type of sand casting, used to produce a solid silver item which can then be refined and detailed once cooled. Casting makes it possible to produce duplicates of an original piece.

You will learn the skills and techniques required to tailor a design specifically for this technique, prepare an operational mould and following a demonstration you will be able to pour the molten metal.
