Join us on this 8-week course to learn how to create unique and beautiful blankets out of your own materials and clothing. Why not transform your baby’s or grandchild’s clothing into a stunning memory blanket that will be treasured forever, or use the clothing of a loved one to create a unique gift or memento.
The course will cover how to measure and cut your memorable clothing accurately and plan your patchwork blanket or quilt.
You will learn how to use a sewing machine to construct your blanket or quilt using the correct seam allowances. You will also learn how to use wadding, backing fabric and how to finish the edges neatly.
The course is suitable for sewists of all abilities and skill levels, including complete beginners.
Please note that there is a material fee of £10 for this course, to cover the cost of backing fabric and wadding. This is payable directly to the tutor in the first session.
You will need to bring in any clothing or fabrics that you would like to use, such as baby clothing or any fabric with meaning to you. It may be possible to purchase additional materials direct from the tutor on the day.
The course could lead to further advancements in Sewing skills by participating in further quilting and patchwork courses.
