Overview

This course is for adults who have studied Spanish for at least 5 years, feel fairly confident speaking Spanish and who want to continue improving and expanding their knowledge of Spanish culture. To join at this level, you should have a good knowledge of all Indicative Tenses and a fair knowledge of the Subjunctive.

Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the materials used during lessons and refer to the course book.

What Will I Study?

You will:

  • You will increase your vocabulary and grammar using all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) on practical topics to enable you to communicate. 
  • Revise the use of all past tenses, different types of pronouns and other hard grammar points
  • Learn how to contrast the different past tenses, use Imperative and Subjunctive Mode.
  • Improve your spoken and written Spanish, as well as working on your listening and reading skills
  • Explore Spanish culture

Entry Requirements

You need to have a good intermediate level of the language. You should be able to:

  • converse about different topics using past and future tenses
  • understand conversations about other people’s lives and interests
  • write a text, letter, story, etc. using all Indicative tenses, Imperative and some Subjunctive.

Please note that Spanish Upper Intermediate classes may vary slightly in the level studied, as this can depend on the pace and skills of each individual cohort. To get a more detailed course outline of your preferred course please contact ahedlanguages@psc.ac.uk

Materials

Please bring a pen, paper and a folder. Your tutor will advise of any necessary materials during your first session.

Progression

Semester 2 begins immediately after Semester 1 and is an integral part of the course, the exact length of which will be decided in the spring term. You would then be able to progress to the next level.
