Overview

This course is for adults who have done one year of the German language before, who have a basic knowledge of German and who can cope with basic tourist conversations.

To join at this level, you should have knowledge of the present tense, be able to give information about yourself and your family, and know the language you need for shopping, booking a hotel room and ordering food and drink.

What Will I Study?

You will expand your vocabulary and grammar using all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) on practical topics to enable you to communicate.

We will be revising the use of the present tense and introducing the future and past tense and you will learn how to talk about the past tense. Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the materials used during lessons and refer to the course book.

Possible topics include:

  • Booking a hotel room, going shopping and talking about clothes and personal appearance
  • Telling the time and talking about routines and work
  • Saying where people live and describing homes
  • Health and illness
  • The weather
