Ready to turn your big ideas into movie magic?

This 4-week course is designed for adults with learning diversities who are keen to explore the basics of scriptwriting, a dynamic form of creative expression that allows stories to be transformed into action and dialogue scenes. 

Sessions are 1.5 hours each and take place in a safe, supportive and tailored-learning environment with a focus to building confidence, self-expression and visual storytelling skills. 

Through an energetic and fun mix of imaginative activities including writing, art and drama, you will develop the very cool power of turning your ideas into fully-fledged scenes - just like the ones you see on the big screen! 

Over the course of the programme you will craft your own short script and jump into table-reads with your fellow friendly writers. This is a brilliant opportunity to read your work with the option to have your tutor film your performance on your personal device to keep and/or show off to your family and friends!

Above all, the course places creativity at its heart, encouraging you to experiment, play with ideas and discover the pure joy of telling your story. 

Some of the topics we will cover are as follows:

• Scene spotlights: Exploring our favourite scenes from movies, TV shows and plays. What makes them work? 
• The three C’s of scriptwriting: concept, character, conflict. These are the secret ingredients that turn a simple idea into a gripping masterpiece! 
• Understanding the basics of the scriptwriting format and applying them to your own script eg. Scene headings, character name, stage directions, dialogue. 
• Dialogue Dynamite: Learn the art of ‘real talk’. You will learn how to write natural, snappy dialogue that make your characters feel alive and keeps your audience hanging on your every word… 
• Step into the The Writer’s Room’: Join our exclusive workshop circle. You’ll get to share your ideas and swap friendly tips with fellow writers in a safe space designed to help your script shine!

There are no entry requirements for this course other than a willingness to explore scriptwriting ideas! 

Just bring yourself! 

On completion of this course, students may wish to continue practicing Scriptwriting in their own time. Alternatively, students are invited to explore other subject areas in our upcoming LD Leisure courses.
