Overview

This welcoming and practical course is designed for those with very little or no experience in painting. Acrylic paints are fast-drying, water-based paints - they are highly versatile and can be used on a variety of surfaces, including canvas, paper, wood, and fabric, allowing artists to create everything from thin, watercolour-like washes to thick, textured, oil-paint-style effects.

You’ll be introduced to the versatile and vibrant medium of acrylic paint, learning essential techniques and building confidence step by step. Through guided exercises and simple projects, you’ll explore colour, texture, and composition in a relaxed and supportive environment.

What Will I Study?

During the course, you will:

  • Learn the basic properties of acrylic paint and how to use it effectively
  • Explore colour mixing and create your own colour palettes
  • Practice brush techniques to achieve different textures and effects
  • Understand simple composition and layout principles
  • Work on a range of small projects to develop your skills
  • Build confidence in expressing your own creative ideas
