Get into the festive spirit with our Handmade Textile Advent Calendars one-day course—a creative, hands-on workshop perfect for anyone who loves sewing, textiles, and Christmas!
Whether you are a beginner or an experienced stitcher, this creative workshop will guide you through crafting your own unique, reusable fabric advent calendar to cherish for years to come.
Throughout the day, you’ll learn key sewing techniques, including piecing, appliqué, embellishment, and basic machine or hand sewing (depending on your preference). You’ll be supported in choosing your own colour palette, fabric combinations, and decorative details to design 24 mini pockets—each ready to hold a festive treat or message. You’ll also explore ways to personalise your calendar with names, festive motifs, or embroidery.

You will need to bring your own fabrics so that you can work in a style and colour of your choosing. Some fabric scraps will be available if needed on the day and thread will be available.
Please bring along any embellishments or decorative items you would like to incorporate into your design. You may wish to bring a few small trinkets or sweets if you’d like to test your pockets! Your tutor will contact you ahead of the start of the course to give more detailed advise regarding materials and fabrics.
