The Level 3 Diploma in Women’s Hairdressing is a qualification for learners seeking a career as an employed and/or self-employed hairdresser/stylist. It has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills to an advanced level in various technical areas, including: colour correcting, creative cutting, long hair work and hair extensions.
Applicants to this course should have successfully completed a Level 2 Hairdressing course.
What Will I Study?
There are eight units to this Diploma and you will be expected to carry out and document evidence for all your treatments. Examples of topics you will cover are listed below.
The creative art of cutting women’s hair
The art of colouring & colour Correction
Styling and dressing hair and health & safety
Consultation support for colleagues & promotion of products and services
Create, plan and design an image
You will be working in a commercial salon environment on fee paying clients, gaining experience of dealing with a wide range of clients to an advanced level.
Entry Requirements
You should already hold a level 2 qualification in hairdressing or the equivalent.
Applicants aged 16-18 must have GCSE English and Maths at grade A-C / 4-9. Those who do not have these qualifications are welcome to apply, but will be required to study for their GCSE's alongside their course.
You should also have good communication skills and ideally be working in a salon environment already.
Materials
You will require a full hairdressing kit, a uniform and a student text book. Further details will be provided at interview.
You will also need two A4 Folders for you course notes and portfolio of evidence. Please be aware that there will be additional costs for advanced units such as hair extensions, as you will need the appropriate kit to take part. Please contact the Hair and Beauty department for further information.
Progression
Employment as a senior hairdresser/stylist. You may also consider the Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management or Level 4 Diploma in Advanced Techniques in Hairdressing.
