Overview

This Part 2 course builds upon basic Greek language skills to develop more confident conversation skills and cultural understanding. Students will expand their vocabulary, master more complex grammatical structures, and engage in basic conversations on diverse topics. The course emphasizes practical application through immersive activities and materials.

What Will I Study?

In this course you will:

  • continue with the Present Tense and learn frequency and place adverbs, indefinite articles, ordinal numbers, indefinite and interrogative pronouns and determiners
  • express views and judgements, asking and giving information about the time, directions, prices, quantities, and travel information. We will learn the days of the week, daily activities and how to order.
  • further explore Greek culture

Entry Requirements

Students wishing to join this course would ideally have completed our Introduction to Greek course. Attendees should be:

  • Familiar with the Greek alphabet and pronunciation
  • Confident with basic vocabulary
  • Familiar with fundamental grammar structures (verbs- present tense-, nouns)
  • Able to talk about yourself, exchanging information about languages, family, address, profession and country.

Materials

You may need to purchase a text book, which will be discussed in the first session. You will need to bring a pen and paper for note-taking. Additional handouts and audio resources will be provided to support your learning. Access to a Greek-English dictionary is recommended. 

Progression

Upon completion of this introductory course, you will have the option to progress to a more advanced course, subject to sufficient demand. This will allow you to further develop your Greek skills and advance your proficiency in Greek.
