What Will I Study?
The overarching aim of this course is to develop your knowledge and application of SEND in order to make a substantial difference to the educational lives of young people
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to create inclusive educational environments within the context of local and international good practice in SEND
Through modules such as Approaches to Inclusion you will critically evaluate the resources and supports required for diverse learners, analyse inclusive education practices in local and international contexts, and explore policies and best practices. The module focuses on developing practical strategies for planning inclusive education within the classroom and equipping students to design, communicate, implement, and manage inclusive provisions at an institutional level and national level, developing leadership and innovation in inclusive education.
In the SEND in Educational Contexts module you will develop an understanding of local and international SEND provision and strategy from various cultural and historical perspectives. IN addition, you will use research and evidence in SEND practice to develop your leadership and management skills related to SEBD delivery, partnership and coordination.
Within the Developing Effective Teaching and Learning Module you will critically analyse current pedagogical approaches and reflect on your own ability to apply them in the classroom. The module will also develop your skills so that you are able to not only improve your own practice within SEBD classrooms, but also enhance the teaching and learning of a SEND team.
The Research Methods and Dissertation Modules work to develop your academic writing to meet the requirements of Level 7. You will complete a detailed and extensive project of your choice which should have a direct impact on your current practice.
Assessment includes essays, reports, individual and presentations, case studies, research reports and several work-based assignments. These strategies are designed to enable the development and application of key transferable skills in an educational setting. There are no examinations.
