Overview

The Working with Couples 101 Certificate is designed for individuals interested in the fundamentals of couples counselling and relational dynamics, as well as those considering further study in couples therapy or relationship-focused counselling. It’s also an excellent fit for experienced practitioners looking to deepen their understanding of working with couples and integrating this knowledge into their practice. This course takes place over one weekend.

The tutor for this course is Lottie Passell-Syms, an experienced counsellor who has worked as a sex, intimacy and relationship specialist for over two decades.

What Will I Study?

This course provides a foundational understanding of couples counselling principles, dynamics, and techniques, giving potential students an informed overview that can help them decide if they wish to pursue advanced study in the field.

Working with Couples 101 will explore various aspects of relational dynamics and attachment patterns within couples, and students will gain insights into essential topics such as conflict resolution, communication techniques, boundaries, and the role of individual versus relational identities. Attendees will also learn about key theories and tools used in couples work, such as attachment theory in relationships, effective dialogue techniques, and understanding cycles and triggers within couples.

Progression

Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate, which may inspire them to pursue further training in couples work or relationship therapy. Your tutor will advise on potential progression courses at the end of the course.
