Overview

This course is for adults with approximately 4 years of French study who would like to continue improving their spoken French, extend their range of vocabulary and tenses, and expand their knowledge of French culture.

What Will I Study?

You will expand your vocabulary and grammar using all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) to enable you to communicate with increasing confidence.

We will be revising areas of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation as needed, including present, past and future tenses, and reading/listening comprehension strategies.

Possible topics include:

  • talking about problems in the workplace, hypothetical situations and wishes.
  • describing and asking about travel experiences
  • using colloquial language and slang
  • discussing dreams, plans and regrets, giving advice,
  • talking about your digital identity, presenting and defending opinions, expressing agreement or disagreement
  • making complaints and protesting.

Students on this course will improve their listening, reading and speaking skills, broaden their range of topic-specific vocabulary and expand their knowledge of French culture. They will also start using more complex language structures including the conditional and subjunctive modes to express opinions and hypothetical situations.
