Overview

How can we look after our clothes and avoid fast fashion?  What have we got in our wardrobes that we love, but don’t wear anymore? What have we bought in a charity shop that needs a new lease of life? If you like watching the sewing bee, this course is for you! This is a two-day event where you will work on a variety of projects. From creatively repairing an existing but slightly worn garment (such as a pair of jeans), adjusting an item for a better fit, to creating a brand new outfit using a variety of garments. You will learn how to add pockets and decoration to boring pieces and how to combine two things to make something new.

Participants are expected to bring a wide range of items of clothing to work with, as well as a selection of embroidery threads.

What Will I Study?

You will learn how to make basic alterations for a better fit and how to sew seams and finishes. You will also learn how to add applique and other embellishments such as patch pockets. This is a great course that will allow you to breathe a new lease of life into your wardrobe and recycle and repurpose your existing clothing and fabrics.
