Overview

This exciting new course is an opportunity to dive into the fantastic world of myths and folk beliefs that have been a part of human life since people were able to sit around a camp fire and explain the changing of the seasons or rising of the sun. Compare and contrast mythologies from all over the world with like-minded people for a better understanding of who we are, where we've come from and where we're going.

What Will I Study?

In this 10-week course, you will explore the rich tapestry of myths, legends and folklore that have shaped societies throughout history. You will delve into myths and legends from all over the world and gain a deeper understanding of how people have answered our deepest and most primal questions.

Through lectures, reading and discussion, students will analyse themes, characters and motifs, gaining a deeper understanding of the human experience and the enduring power of storytelling. From the majestic gods and goddesses of Mount Olympus and heroes of Ancient Greece, to Roman, Norse and Egyptian mythology, this course will allow you to consider a range of themes and topics. So,  whether you are a history buff, literature lover, or simply curious about the myths that continue to captivate the imagination, this course promises to inspire and enlighten!
