This Philosophy course is an opportunity to delve into the minds of the greatest thinkers. With the rise of AI, a new and international discussion around identity and the worldwide threat of climate change, the ‘big ideas’ of philosophy have never been more important or relevant to our lives.

What Will I Study?

This impactful 10-week course is an opportunity to delve into the minds of the greatest thinkers; suitable for curious, open-minded learners wanting to explore the world's oldest, and newest, questions.

Students will receive an introduction to philosophy by studying some of the foundational thinkers and ideas such as Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. In the later stages of the course, content will be directed by what the students are interested in and where their curiosity takes them. There will be opportunities for open discussion as well as directed learning from your tutor.

Entry Requirements

No previous training is required, except an open mind and a willingness to understand and explore. This course is ideal for learners who are new to philosophy.

No specific materials. Please bring a pen and paper to take notes. 

Progression

The course will hopefully lead to a deeper understanding of the most important questions that have struck humanity over the last four thousand years, and potentially further training in philosophy. Those wishing to progress can do so by attending ‘Exploring Philosophy’ which is best suited to those with some experience of studying philosophy.
