This is a fantastic progression route for students who already hold a Level 3 qualification in Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing who would like to develop management skills as well as more advanced techniques and treatments. Attendance to this course is one day a week, making it ideal for practising therapists and stylists wishing to boost their skillset whilst remaining in work. There are two pathways available on this course: beauty or hair.
What Will I Study?

Management of Health, Safety and Security in the Salon
Quality of Management of Client Care in the Hair & Beauty Sector
Sales Management in the Hair & Beauty Sector
Public Relations in the Hair & Beauty Sector
Salon Management
Optional units for the Beauty route could include:
Laser and light treatments for hair removal
Advanced Epilation Techniques.
Optional units for the Hair route could include:
Hair Colour Correction
Entry Requirements
Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 3 in Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing (or the equivalent) and a good standard of English at GCSE (grade A-C/4-9) is preferred. You will need to have good communication skills - this course suits those who get on well with others and have a desire and willingness to be part of a team
Level 4 students are expected to have a good self-study ethic and some home study is required. Students will need to understand the structure of the hair and skin, and as such there are elements of biology and maths within the course content.
Materials
Students will need to purchase a uniform from the college supplier (order forms available at interview). You will also need suitable shoes for, a selection of stationary and an A4 ring binder for coursework and your portfolio. Your course textbook will be discussed at interview.
A products fee is also payable, which contributes towards some of the materials used in the salons e.g laundry, tools, products and resources required to accomplish the services you will be taught. This will be discussed with you further at interview.
Progression
This course will make students employable within a management role or in an advanced salon and clinic. It will also prepare students to set up their own business or salon.
On completion of this qualification, you may choose to study specialist techniques to expand their skillset (such as Level 3 Diploma in Complementary Therapies Reflexology, Hairdressing or Barbering). There may also be opportunity for hair enrichment courses such as extensions, permanent blow drying and long hair work.
