Overview

This course is for adults with little or no knowledge of the language. The classes will take you through the basics of the language and related culture and you will learn how to communicate in situations that you are likely to encounter as a tourist in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.

You will cover aspects of all four language skills over the course (speaking, reading, writing and listening).

What Will I Study?

In this course, students will learn the basics of the language in a friendly and fun environment, using a variety of activities and resources. You will learn the vocabulary needed to communicate in situations you are likely to encounter as a tourist, such as greetings and introductions, directions and transport, buying tickets and ordering food.

A small amount of study at home is required between lessons and homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to read the material used during the lessons and refer to the course book for vocabulary practice.

You will cover the following topics:

  • greetings and pleasantries, such as introducing yourself and others
  • ordering drinks and food, asking for directions and booking accommodation
