The Level 3 Certificate in Swedish Body Massage is a qualification designed to teach you how to provide a relaxing and stress relieving body massage treatment. The course will prepare you for a career as a Swedish Massage Therapist, working in either a salon or spa environment, or as a self-employed/mobile therapist.
You will learn practical skills in each unit, gain experience in client care and learn how to operate within health and safety guidelines and industry regulations. Students will work on fee paying clients quite quickly to ensure they develop good communication skills and offer outstanding client care.
Throughout this qualification you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology, health and safety and client care. You will develop a range of technical skills enabling you to provide relaxing massage treatments using classical Swedish massage movements. You will also develop interpersonal skills that will assist you to communicate effectively with clients.

There are no formal qualifications that you must have prior to undertaking this course, however, a good standard of English at GCSE grade A-C / 4-9 is preferred. If you are aged between 16-18 and do not already have English and Maths GCSEs (grade A-C /4-9) then you will be required to complete these alongside your course. Applicants should have good interpersonal and communication abilities, as they will be dealing with customers within the service industry.
You will need a college approved uniform and course text book - order forms will be available from college. You will also need stationary, including pens, paper and two A4 folders.
On successful completion of this course, students can gain employment or self-employment as a Swedish massage therapist. Alternatively, you may choose to undertake further study at Level 3 or 4.
