Overview

This course is for anyone who has an interest in exploring the medium of resin to create beautiful jewellery. Using resin is a wonderful way to unleash your creativity and jewellery-making is the perfect introduction for those new to the craft.

Epoxy resin uses a two-component system that includes resin and a hardener. When mixed together, the two components create a chemical reaction that solidifies the resin to become a solid plastic. You can add various additions, such as colour, glitter, dried flowers, gold leaf and charms to create beautiful jewellery creations.

What Will I Study?

In this course we will be using pressed flowers to create a pair of earrings and a pendant as well as practicing floral resin techniques to create a keyring and other small items.

Entry Requirements

No experience needed.

Materials

Most materials for this course are included in the course fee. Please bring an apron and wear old clothing.

Disposable masks/respirators, gloves and protective equipment will be provided. You may wish to purchase your own respirator, particularly if you are intending to continue working with resin from home or enrolling onto one of our other resin workshops.

You will need to bring in a collection of pressed flowers that you would like to use in your project - these can be purchased online or collected from your garden.

We will have a small stock of basic moulds, however, they can be purchased fairly cheaply and we recommend you bring your own so that you can create in a style of your choosing.

Progression

It could give you confidence to try a new hobby at home or it could lead onto other workshops in resin at the college.
