Overview

This course is designed as a continuation of our Introduction to Philosophy and previous Exploring Philosophy courses, building on foundational ideas and exploring more complex and specialised topics. It will delve deeper into philosophical concepts from around the world. Students will engage with historical and contemporary ideas and debates across key areas such as epistemology, ethics, and politics. This course will encourage critical thinking and debate, through the consideration of varied philosophical questions.

What Will I Study?

Learners will explore various perspectives on life's fundamental questions, broadening their worldview and fostering a stronger connection to humanity. Through debate and discussion, students will sharpen their critical thinking skills, enhancing their grasp of the philosophical issues that shape human thought. The tutor will present more complex concepts and offer opportunities for students to apply their insights to their own experiences.

Entry Requirements

This course is ideally suited to those who have previously taken one of our previous Philosophy courses, as you will explore more advanced concepts or ideas. If you have a keen interest in Philosophy and are happy to join an existing class, you are welcome to join this course. If you would like to discuss your suitability for this course, please contact us prior to enrolling.

Progression

The course will hopefully lead to a deeper understanding of the most important questions that have struck humanity over the last four thousand years, and potentially further training in philosophy. We may consider offering an extension course if there is a sufficient interest.
