In this fascinating talk, lecturer Chris Higginson will explore myths and religion. What separates religion from superstition? How can faith and devotion to God range from absolute non-violence to blood sacrifice?
Join us for a captivating guest lecture that re-examines the very nature of belief. Moving beyond standard definitions, we will look at the great diversity of human belief - from all-powerful Gods to petty ghosts and witches.
We will then tackle the ultimate question: Why did religion arise in the first place? From offering solace and explaining the unknown to bonding societies together, we will explore the evolutionary and psychological forces behind faith.
Whether you are interested in anthropology, philosophy, or cognitive science, this talk offers a fresh, thought-provoking perspective on one of the most important and long-lasting pillars of human culture.
