Overview

The integration of nature‑based approaches into mental health practice is rapidly expanding, and walk‑and‑talk therapy is becoming an increasingly sought‑after modality. This introductory course equips qualified counsellors with the knowledge, skills and professional confidence to incorporate walk‑and‑talk sessions safely and ethically into their therapeutic work/helping work.

Delivered by Stephanie Miller, a BACP‑accredited counsellor and qualified Professional Outdoor Leader with the Mountain Training Association, the course combines theoretical foundations with practical application. Learners will explore how to plan and facilitate walk‑and‑talk sessions, conduct risk assessments, and apply appropriate ethical, legal and professional considerations.

Through a blend of presentation, discussion and experiential learning, participants will examine how natural environments can support therapeutic alliance, emotional regulation and client engagement, while also understanding the boundaries and responsibilities inherent in this way of working.
