Our busy College Counselling Service is a key part of a range of support services available to our students aged 16 – 19. You will work alongside other counselling professionals in your work which will include providing one to one sessions, assessing cases, promoting the service and liaising with other agencies both within and outside the College. You will receive external supervision to support you in your work.
We seek a Counsellor to work up to 19 hours a week, term time only ideally on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are very happy to consider job share. The successful candidate will have a post graduate diploma in counselling or equivalent and will either hold or be eligible for BACP Accreditation. Experience of working with this age group and in an educational setting are desirable. As important, however, are the personal qualities of communication, empathy and an ability to relate to students at this point in their lives.
Our staff are at the heart of what we do at the College, we are proudly anti-racist and our motto is ‘Counting in ones’ which applies to staff as well as the students. We offer special leave for various special occasions, support from the Hub, staff-run groups, staff choir, Monday night football, regular staff forums, an inclusive, supportive and kind culture, no expectations to answer emails out of hours (with an automated message to alert the sender), lunch provided at all lunchtime meetings, ‘5 days of Christmas’ treats, end of term meals and activities and bike and computer loans to name but a few of our initiatives.
