SYMONDS STUDENTS CELEBRATE AN INCREDIBLE 53 OXBRIDGE OFFERS

Peter Symonds students are celebrating their incredible haul of 53 Oxbridge offers to study at the universities of Oxford and Cambridge.
Students will be studying a diverse range of subjects from Classics and English with Beginners’ Latin or Greek; Experimental Psychology; Natural Sciences; Spanish and Linguistics; Computer Science, Civil Engineering; Modern and Medieval Languages, as well as the more traditional subjects of History, Law, Mathematics, Medicine and Economics, among others.

successful students originated from 32 different secondary schools
Symonds students secured offers to study 30 different courses
the 53 offers were received from 34 different colleges across the two universities.
Principal, Sara Russell, said: “Fifty-three Symonds students holding Oxbridge offers is nothing short of remarkable. This fantastic achievement is testament to our students’ talent, resilience and sheer hard work. It is incredibly difficult to balance the co-ordination and submission of a successful Oxbridge application with demanding A Level study. It takes determination and focus, and a real hunger to succeed.
“What struck me this year is the sheer diversity of the offer-holders – in terms of gender, ethnicity, previous school, the plethora of Oxbridge colleges applied to and the range of courses selected. Oxford and Cambridge are unashamed of their quest to recruit the finest candidates, and competition for places has become more fierce with each passing year. Symonds cultivates ambition universally across the College and I am so enormously proud that so many Oxbridge students come from Symonds.
“Symonds isn’t a selective college and welcome a diverse range of students from a wide variety of backgrounds. We have a proven track record of enabling students to ascend to the next chapter in their ambitions. We are proud of all our students but today, we recognise our Oxbridge successes. We congratulate them and also the families and friends who have supported them on their journeys so far.”
The number of Peter Symonds students who are offered places to study at Oxford or Cambridge is comparable to leading private and selective schools. The College regularly features as one of the country’s top five feeder institutes to Oxbridge.
In 2024:
54 students were offered places to study medicine, dentistry or veterinary science
738 Peter Symonds students went to Russell Group universities
1683 students accepted university places.
