SYMONDS STUDENTS CELEBRATE CREATIVITY AT MEDIA AND FILM EXPO WEEK
Peter Symonds College celebrated the creative industries with its dynamic Media and Film Expo Week, which offered students an immersive programme of industry-led workshops, expert talks and hands-on experience in areas including as animation, music video editing, and experimental filmmaking.
The event culminated in an intensive 48-hour film competition which challenged students to plan, shoot, and edit a short film within just two days, and provided a valuable insight into creative career pathways.
Amy Charlewood, Head of Film Studies, said: “The Peter Symonds Film and Expo week offers our students a chance to develop new technical skills, extend their learning beyond the curriculum, and begin shaping their journey into the creative industries. It provides invaluable experience that nurtures both their artistic growth and long-term career aspirations.”
The Film & Media department’s courses combine practical production with critical study, exploring topics like representation, media theory, and cross-media storytelling, with the Expo playing a key role in preparing students for further study and future careers in the creative industries.
