Peter Symonds College, Winchester held its annual Remembrance Day event at 11am on Monday 11 November with contributions from student musicians, Principal Sara Russell and Student Union President Briannah Butler, followed by observing two minutes’ silence.

Trumpeters Simon Lloyd and Alex Richards were supported for the event by Julian Poore, the College’s Head of Brass, in rehearsing to perform The Last Post and Reveille.  Representatives from the College’s Student Union, Enrichment and Boarding teams also attended, alongside staff and students.

Principal, Sara Russell,  said: “I am immensely proud that the whole College community came together today to remember the civilians and service personnel who have loyally given their lives for their country. We are acutely aware that conflict continues in the world today and we think of all those affected, near and far.”

Symonds students also supported other remembrance services held in and around Winchester.  Matt Gale, supported the remembrance service at St Mary's Church, Kings Worthy, playing trumpet as part of the local primary school's event.  In addition, the College was well represented at the Winchester Cathedral Remembrance Service on Sunday 10 November by the following students:
