Information About The Post

Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which is proud to be rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.

As a central part of campus life, the coffee shop provides a welcoming space where students, staff, and visitors can enjoy high-quality food and drinks, meet friends, or study between classes. You'll ensure the coffee shop runs smoothly each day, maintaining high standards of beverage quality, presentation, cleanliness, and customer service while creating a friendly and inclusive atmosphere for everyone who visits.

Working closely with management, you'll support the day-to-day running of the coffee shop, helping to coordinate the team during busy service periods, responding to operational challenges, and ensuring an efficient and enjoyable customer experience. You'll also contribute ideas for developing the product range to appeal to our college community.

We are looking for someone with experience in a cafe, coffee shop, catering, or hospitality environment who enjoys working in a fast-paced setting and takes pride in providing excellent service. You'll be organised, proactive, and able to adapt to the changing demands of the academic year. A positive attitude, good communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food hygiene and health and safety are essential.

In return, you'll benefit from a term-time only role that offers an excellent work-life balance, a supportive working environment, and the opportunity to play an important part in creating a vibrant and welcoming hub at the heart of our college community.

Our staff are at the heart of what we do at the College, we are proudly anti-racist and our motto is ‘Counting in ones’ which applies to staff as well as the students. We offer special leave for various special occasions, support from the Hub, staff-run groups, staff choir, Monday night football, regular staff forums, an inclusive, supportive and kind culture, no expectations to answer emails out of hours (with an automated message to alert the sender), lunch provided at all lunchtime meetings, ‘5 days of Christmas’ treats, end of term meals and activities and bike and computer loans to name but a few of our initiatives.

More details and information on how to apply are available on our website. If you require further assistance please phone the Personnel Department on 01962 857557 or email jobs@psc.ac.uk quoting the reference number.

We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. To that end, a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure will be required in the event of an individual being offered a position within our College. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.
