We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College. We are currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Deputy Catering Manager to join our vibrant team. You will play a crucial role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of our catering services, with a primary focus on front-of-house services, retail outlets and administrative support.

As the Deputy Catering Manager, you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient running of all non-kitchen catering areas, including the Refectory, College Shop, Café, Coffee Shop and The Parlour. Your duties will include:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to students, staff, and visitors while maintaining high standards of food presentation and cleanliness.
  • Managing and motivating front-of-house staff, assisting with their recruitment, training, and development.
  • Deputising for the Catering Manager, taking full responsibility for all catering operations in their absence.
  • Overseeing daily till operations, cash handling, and stock management for retail items.
  • Assisting with planning and executing hospitality events

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a busy catering, retail, or hospitality environment. You should also have experience with cash handling, till operations, and basic stock management. We are looking for someone with strong organisational skills and a proactive, problem-solving attitude who can work effectively under pressure. A commitment to health, safety, and food hygiene standards is essential. You should have an NVQ Level 2 in Hospitality & Catering or equivalent, as well as an Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or 3).

If you want to work in a supportive and dynamic environment that fosters respect, equality, and diversity, leading a dedicated team providing an excellent quality of catering services that support our thriving College, we would love to hear from you.

Our staff are at the heart of what we do at the College, we are proudly anti-racist and our motto is ‘Counting in ones’ which applies to staff as well as the students. We offer special leave for various special occasions, support from the Hub, staff-run groups, staff choir, Monday night football, regular staff forums, an inclusive, supportive and kind culture, no expectations to answer emails out of hours (with an automated message to alert the sender), lunch provided at all lunchtime meetings, ‘5 days of Christmas’ treats, end of term meals and activities and bike and computer loans to name but a few of our initiatives.
