We are recruiting for a combined Study Support and EHCP Caseworker for four days a week.
Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which is rated by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
Our Study Support staff provide advice, guidance and support to students with additional learning needs in the College both in class and in the department. Among those students are a number who have an EHCP (Education and Health Care Plan), which means that they receive additional support and will generally have other agencies involved in their care.
The successful candidate will work alongside five other caseworkers and the deputy head of department to provide ongoing support to students who may have highly complex needs including those both with and without an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).
Required days as an EHCP caseworker are Thursday and Friday but the other two days are to be agreed. The role is 39 weeks a year which is term time plus a week. The hours are 8:30 – 16:40 per day with a 50 minute lunch.
Prior experience of having worked with students with complex needs, particularly in respect of social, emotional and mental health needs and EHCPs is essential, as is having an understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation.
Previously having supported students presenting in crisis, acting as a lead professional within EHCP annual reviews and working within multi-disciplinary teams is desirable but not essential.
Duties include: casework; transition planning; exam access arrangements assessments; risk assessments; liaising with families and other professionals and chairing, coordinating and/or contributing to termly/annual reviews.
Please see separate adverts for EHCP Caseworker and Study Support Caseworker positions.
