Information About The Post
Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which is proud to be rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
We have two boarding houses accommodating over 70 boarders during term time, with exclusive access to our on-site gym and sports hall three evenings per week. As Boarding Gym Supervisor & Sports Coordinator, you will support students in using gym equipment safely and effectively, encouraging active lifestyles and supervising safe practice. You will also lead the planning and delivery of a varied programme of sports activities for boarders.
Ideally, you will hold a Level 2 Gym Instructor qualification and have previous experience working in a gym. However, training can be provided for the right candidate with enthusiasm and a good working knowledge of fitness. You’ll need to be well organised, confident working with 16–19-year-olds, and willing to undertake first aid training.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to gain or develop experience in the fitness industry. There may be flexibility in the specific evenings or timings to suit the successful applicant.
Our staff are at the heart of what we do at the College, we are proudly anti-racist and our motto is ‘Counting in ones’ which applies to staff as well as the students. We offer special leave for various special occasions, support from the Hub, staff-run groups, staff choir, Monday night football, regular staff forums, an inclusive, supportive and kind culture, no expectations to answer emails out of hours (with an automated message to alert the sender), lunch provided at all lunchtime meetings, ‘5 days of Christmas’ treats, end of term meals and activities and bike and computer loans to name but a few of our initiatives.
More details and information on how to apply are available on our website. If you require further assistance please phone the Personnel Department on 01962 857557 or email jobs@psc.ac.uk quoting the reference number.
We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.
