Study Support Caseworker
We are looking for a compassionate and organised individual to join our Study Support department on a part time basis working 2 days per week.
The details for this post are as follows:
Information About The Post
Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which is rated by Ofsted as ‘Outstanding’. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
The successful candidate will work alongside four other caseworkers to provide ongoing support to students who may have highly complex needs. Duties include: casework; transition planning; exam access arrangements assessments; risk assessments; contributing to reviews and liaising with other professionals.
Study Support Caseworkers work 39 weeks a year which is term time plus a week. The hours are 8:30 – 16:45 per day with a 50 minute lunch (days to be agreed).
Experience of working with students with a diverse range of needs, particularly in respect of social, emotional and mental health needs is essential. Prior experience of having worked with multi-disciplinary teams, students presenting in crisis within an educational setting and students in receipt of Education, Health and Care plans (EHCPs) is desirable but not essential.
You must be physically fit to undertake manual handling and to provide personal care to students with disabilities (with training if required). Most important is empathy and rapport with young people and a genuine desire to help them reach their potential.
Our staff are at the heart of what we do at the College, we are proudly anti-racist and our motto is ‘Counting in ones’ which applies to staff as well as the students. We offer special leave for various special occasions, support from the Hub, staff-run groups, staff choir, Monday night football, regular staff forums, an inclusive, supportive and kind culture, no expectations to answer emails out of hours (with an automated message to alert the sender), lunch provided at all lunchtime meetings, ‘5 days of Christmas’ treats, end of term meals and activities and bike and computer loans to name but a few of our initiatives.
More details and information on how to apply are available on our website. If you require further assistance please phone the Personnel Department on 01962 857557 or email jobs@psc.ac.uk quoting the reference number.
We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. To that end, a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure will be required in the event of an individual being offered a position within our College. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding and Prevent training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.
