Futsal Team Coach

Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which has been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College. We have an exciting opportunity for a new member of staff to join our team to coach our Futsal Team. The successful candidate will ideally be able to drive a minibus and have a futsal coaching qualification with previous experience of working with young adults. There is a need for some flexibility as the team will have occasional fixtures on a Wednesday afternoon and very rarely there are games which take place on other days.

Information About The Post

Job Title:                             Coach/Sporting Team Manager for Futsal


Job Purpose:                      To coach and coordinate the Futsal Team


Responsible to:                Head of Enrichment


Duties will include:


  • Attending training sessions and fixtures as timetabled every week.


  • Liaising with the Head of Enrichment/Sports Coordinator regarding fixtures and team members


  • Leading safe, standard appropriate training sessions for all members of the team.


  • Completing team sheets in advance of all fixtures, distributing to members of the team and the sports coordinator.


  • Acting in a mature, appropriate manner at all fixtures and ensuring team members follow suit


  • Travel with teams on coach or mini bus to and from away fixtures


  • Encouraging team members to gain and develop skills, knowledge and techniques. 


  • Inspiring confidence and self-belief in team members


  • First Aid cover at training sessions and fixtures


  • Covering other sports teams when required if this falls within your working hours.


  • Attending any college training that is appropriate to your role.


  • Familiarising yourself with risk assessments needed for sporting activities.


  • Prioritising the safeguarding of all students and participating in training on safeguarding matters.


  • Contributing to the elimination of unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation; advancing equality of opportunity and fostering good relations between people who share a protected characteristic and those who do not.


  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Principal.
