Teacher of Piano
We have a vacancy for a part time Piano Teacher to join our college.
The details for this post are as follows:
Information About The Post
Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which is proud to be rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
We have a vacancy for a Teacher of Piano to join the team on a part time basis, with the exact working days and times open to negotiation, based on demand for piano lessons post-enrolment. This is an exciting opportunity for an exceptional pianist who is passionate about the keyboard repertoire but, above all, who delights in helping young people develop their skills and interests. Many of our students play to a very high level, including diploma standard, but we also have grade 5 entry-level pianists qualifying for the A level Music course. The ideal candidate will be able to inspire our lower grade pianists to reach the demands of the A level specification within a relatively short time scale, and will have experience in preparing students for Piano exams, both live and recorded. The role may also include some occasional accompanying.
We are proud to announce that Peter Symonds College has been officially designated an All-Steinway School. All teaching is on Steinway pianos, including two Model B’s, one Model D, 12 Steinway uprights, and our exciting new Spirio piano. This prestigious status reflects our commitment to excellence in music education. Teaching rooms for our visiting teachers are equipped to a very high standard.
For further information, please refer to the background information, job description and person specification for the role. You are also welcome to contact Rachel Platt, Head of Music, for an informal conversation on 01962 857578.
