The Guidance Chat
It's an informal chat
Your guidance chat with us is an informal one-to-one discussion, lasting just 20 minutes. This is our chance to get to know you a little bit more and for you to get to know us. Yes, we’ll ask you some questions but you’ll know the answers because they are about you and your future goals.
Course choices and study support
As well as finding out more about you as a person (hobbies, interests, etc), we’ll discuss your course choices and any study support needs you may have. If you are not yet 100% sure of which subjects you want to study at Peter Symonds, we can talk through your options.
College life and what to expect
During your session, we'll give you an overview of student life at Symonds. There are many differences between school and college and we will provide you with information on aspects such as independent study and resources, how the timetable works, student support, enrichment and campus facilities.
Ask us questions!
This is your chance to have your queries answered and gain as much information as you need to feel prepared for college. You can ask anything, whether it’s about where to get the best coffee on campus or what’s involved in an EPQ qualification.
Next Steps
Before the end of your appointment, we'll explain what happens next with your application and you'll receive a Next Steps guide. This will have all your key dates for the application process and it's definitely worth sharing with your parents/carers too!
The timing of your guidance chat does not affect your chance of being offered a place at the College. However, in order to be considered for an offer of a place at Peter Symonds College, you must attend your guidance chat.
