Course Content

This is course will will provide you with a ‘job-ready’ qualification and the knowledge, understanding and skills to work competently as a hairdresser.

Methods & Patterns of Assessment

Work will be set to improve your practical skills, knowledge and understanding of hairdressing. For practical elements, you will be observed by your assessor. All your work must be collected in a portfolio of evidence and cross-referenced to requirements listed in this record of assessment book.

Theory (exam): 50%
Practical: 50%

Where Could It Take Me?

This qualification will qualify you for employment as a hairdresser in a variety of contexts, including:

  • commercial beauty salons
  • destination and day spas
  • working independently/self-employed/mobile/home-based settings

Whilst this qualification's primary purpose is to prepare you for employment you may choose to develop your skills further by undertaking qualifications at Level 4, including VTCT Level 4 Diploma in Salon Management.

Entry Requirements

Five GCSEs at grade 4 or above to include Maths and English Language.
