Information About The Post
Peter Symonds is a vibrant sixth form college in Winchester which has been rated by Ofsted as ‘outstanding’ in every respect. We have a large team of committed and talented staff who are at the heart of the success of the College.
The College is recruiting for an experienced, enthusiastic science technician or laboratory assistant/technician to lead our team of Biology technicians to start in June.
Our science departments are some of the largest in colleges in the country, with over a thousand students studying A level Biology and BTEC Applied Human Biology. We have a large team of Technicians working alongside the Teachers in the Faculty, supporting students in achieving exceptional results. Four of these technicians work in the Biology and Applied Human Biology department and Environmental Science, which you will lead.
Duties include preparing equipment for practicals, maintaining laboratory areas and liaison with both students and staff in their work. The posts are term time only plus Enrolment Week to be worked by agreement in the team.
The ideal candidates will have a science qualification to level three or above, with a genuine interest in education and science and some experience working as a Science Technician. Experience leading a team of technicians would be an advantage but is not essential.
