The Level 4 Diploma in Salon management is a qualification aimed at those who wish to proceed to employment as a salon manager or senior therapist. Learners will develop both the management and technical skills required to work in the role of a hair and beauty salon manager. It is a great progression course for anyone who has studied a Hair, Beauty or Complementary Therapy course at Level 3 and is looking to progress to a managerial role or to manage their own salon.

There are five mandatory units in this qualification, including: 

• management of health, safety and security in the salon
• quality management of client care in the hair and beauty sector
• sales management in the hair and beauty sector
• public relations in the hair and beauty sector
• salon management. 

You will also have the opportunity to further develop your knowledge, understanding and skills by choosing from a range of optional units including:

• research in the hair and beauty sector
• salon design
• IT and data handling for the hair and beauty sector
• marketing
• human resource management

In addition you can choose some technical modules, such as: airbrush make-up, permanent lashes, intimate waxing, micro-dermabrasion, prosthetic make-up, advanced epilation techniques, laser and light treatments, hair colour correction, manage the creation of a hair style collection, hair and scalp specialist services, and micro-pigmentation.

Applicants to this course should have achieved a hair and beauty related qualification at Level 3. You should also have a good level of English and Maths and good communication skills. Please contact us if you have any queries regarding entry criteria.

You may need to purchase a text book and a salon uniform. Further information will be provided at interview.

You could look for employment as a senior therapist or salon manager, or consider opening your own salon. You could also progress on to further study in the sector.
