This course is for adults with approximately 6 years of French study who would like to continue improving their ability to communicate and expanding their knowledge of French language and culture.
To join at this level, you should have a good knowledge of vocabulary and tenses (present, past and future) and should be able to communicate in French on a range of familiar topics.
You will expand your vocabulary and grammar using all four language skills, as well as developing strategies to enable you to communicate more effectively.
We will be revising areas of grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation as needed, including the most commonly used tenses. Students will practise and develop all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) and broaden your range of vocabulary, including colloquial language. There will also be a focus on learning to use more varied language structures and complex sentence patterns.

Course materials will be discussed at the first session. Please bring a pen, paper and a folder. Homework is given on a weekly basis. To benefit most from the course, you will be encouraged to do the set tasks in preparation for the next lesson.
We offer a Semester 2 course that begins immediately after Semester 1 and is an integral part of the course, the exact length of which will be decided in the spring term. You would then be able to progress to the next level.
