Information About The Post

Our Finance team consists of the Director of Finance, a Finance Officer and Finance Assistant who work to provide a range of services to staff and students. There is a modern finance system which allows many transactions to be handled on line, but there are also frequent telephone enquiries as well as callers to the office. The team has a very ‘can do’ attitude to ensure that not only are processes run efficiently and in accordance with the regulations, but also that all department customers and external contacts receive a friendly and helpful service. Duties include: control and reconciliation of ledgers, payroll reconciliations, assisting with internal and external audits, month / year end processing and reporting, assisting with budget preparation. This is a full time, full year post although we may have some flexibility for the right candidate and will consider someone who wants to work fewer weeks of the year, subject to flexibility to meet key deadlines.

You will have experience of using a range of computer packages to an advanced level, with practical experience of at least some of the following: payroll, month end processing, yearend accounts, budget preparation, banking; sales ledger, student finance, fixed asset register, VAT and procurement. You will be educated to A level or equivalent, with an AAT Level 2/3 being an advantage. Importantly, you should demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development and to gaining new skills. You will have a friendly personality, strong communication skills and a positive approach to finding solutions and getting things done.
