Information About The Post

We seek to recruit someone on a full time, full year contract who will work as a Security Officer (known as the Student Safety Officer) in term time and as an Estates Assistant during the College holidays. The hours are 40 per week, 8.30 am to 5 pm with half an hour’s unpaid lunch break. We will consider applications from people who prefer to work term time only and therefore undertake only the Security Officer element of the job, with an appropriate adjustment to the salary. Please make that clear in your application.

During term time, you will patrol the College grounds and buildings to provide a visible and reassuring security presence, monitoring student behaviour and being alert to any problems. Physically fit to be outside and on your feet in all weathers, you will have an empathy with the needs and interests of young people, with the confidence to assert your authority when necessary. When in the Estates team, you will carry out maintenance and porterage work; you are not required to be a skilled tradesperson.

We are dedicated to safeguarding the students in our care. To that end, a Disclosure and Barring Service enhanced disclosure will be required in the event of an individual being offered a position within our College. Our staff undertake regular safeguarding training and are subject to ongoing safeguarding scrutiny.

How To Apply

Please download and complete the application form (two parts). Once complete, please email it to jobs@psc.ac.uk quoting the job title and reference number in your email. If you require an acknowledgement please also request that in your email.

If you require any assistance or further information, please email us on the address above or telephone Personnel on 01962 857557.

Due to the number of applications we receive, we regret that we are unable to respond to all applicants personally. If you have not heard from us by the interview date you should assume that you have not been successful on this occasion. However, we would be very pleased to hear from you again in respect of future vacancies. Thank you for your interest in working at Peter Symonds College.
