This course is open to anyone who wishes to improve their existing ceramics skills. Each student will have their own individual design brief developed between themselves and the tutor. This may include areas such as: constructing domestic ware or glaze chemistry for sculptural work as well as domestic projects.
What Will I Study?
Topics covered in this course include:
Applying construction techniques
Explaining basic glaze chemistry
Designing, developing and using glazes appropriately
Applying designs using porcelain clay
Executing specific design briefs
Using different medium with confidence
Entry Requirements
Students are required to have a basic knowledge of ceramics in order to enrol on the improvers course.
Materials
Please bring a notebook, sketchbook and a pen/pencil to your first class. All other materials costs are included within the course fee and are paid for at the time of enrolment.
Progression
Upon completion, students could set up a ceramics studio or business – the course is an excellent stepping stone into further study of ceramics.
