STUDENT TRAVEL

Peter Symonds College is situated in the heart of Winchester. It is five minutes walk from the rail station and 20 minutes walk from the bus station. Many buses arrive either in college or at the rail station for the convenience of students.

Please note there is no onsite car parking for students. Students with disabilities or mobility issues may apply for a permit to park onsite. Application forms are available from Student Services and applications must be supported by a consultant’s letter.

1.Discounted Rail Travel

Scholar Season Tickets are no longer available to purchase for the Autumn Term 2017 as it is not financially beneficial to students. A normal season ticket can be purchased for the remaining weeks of term from South Western trains.

General Information

First South Western are now running the train services to and from Winchester. They continue to offer a discounted termly rail pass called the Scholar Season Ticket: This is purchased termly through the College online shop. Students and parents are notified when the deadline for purchase is approaching.

Tickets can be used at any time of day, and at weekends during term time. Unfortunately, the roll out of Smartcards has been delayed by South Western but please make sure you do not throw your Smartcard away if you were issued with one last year.

Please note that as we place orders for more than 1,000 tickets each term. Deadlines are strictly adhered to and tickets purchased due to late application are not refundable. Thank you for your support in this matter.

2.Buses

College does not operate "school buses" of its own. Instead students are expected to use publicly operated bus services. Several companies currently serve routes to college, many of which arrive on site in line with lesson times.
