Symonds College students have once again shown they are top of the class. A total of 48 students, from 30 different secondary schools, have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge, 46 conditional and two unconditional.
Says Principal, Stephen Carville, "I am immensely proud that so many of our students have been offered places at Oxford and Cambridge Universities. The selection process is extremely rigorous. This figure puts us among the very top schools or colleges in the entire country, in the same league as Eton!"
Peter Symonds’ specialist Oxbridge tutor, Heather Wagstaff, adds, "I am very proud of them all. The competition for Oxbridge entry becomes more intense each year, so to be offered a place to study at these prestigious universities is a great achievement.”
Lily Ford who has been offered a place to read Theology and Religion at King’s College, Cambridge says, “Receiving an offer was a bit surreal - knowing you have the opportunity to study in such a beautiful place with such experts in their field. It was an amazing realisation that all the hard work has nearly (hoping I get the grades) paid off.”
Peter Symonds, with a pass rate of 99%, is the top sixth form college in Hampshire for students achieving the ‘golden AAB grades’. 355 students were awarded these last year. Overall 1,489 students progressed to university, with 558 students accepting places at the top ‘Russell Group’ universities.
