Peter Symonds College students have once again shown they are top of the class. A total of 48 students, from 30 different secondary schools, have received offers from Oxford and Cambridge, 46 conditional and two unconditional.

The 2017 HE+ programme, hosted by the University of Cambridge, has launched successfully at Peter Symonds College. Over 500 enthusiastic lower sixth students, from state schools and colleges across Hampshire, are set to meet up regularly at the College for each of the five evening sessions between now and March.

Members of 'A Company of Fools' student theatre company at Peter Symonds College, recently delivered another exceptional production of an original play entitled "The Babushka" written by college student, Jake Mace. Over 60 Peter Symonds students showcased their talents to sell out audiences at each performance. The play was directed by the students and the music was composed by student Madeline Ashman.

Twelve Peter Symonds Biology students took part in the annual Authentic Biology Symposium at the Wellcome Trust head-quarters in London. Alongside sixth formers from St Paul's Way Trust School London, Tapton School Sheffield, Cotham School Bristol and the Simon Langton Grammar School Canterbury, the Symonds students were at the Symposium to share their individual research discoveries with leading academics and fellow students.

Five former Peter Symonds students were recent guests at St James's Palace to collect their Duke of Edinburgh Awards (DofE Awards) in a prestigious awards ceremony. Eleanor Chambers, Eryn Ann Fyson, Rosalind Martin, Amita Muthalagu and Michael Charles Sessions, were all recipients of the DofE Gold Award, a youth achievement award run in conjunction with the College and Hampshire County Council.

Four students from Peter Symonds College, Alex Chamberlain, Aaron Freemantle, Josh Payne and Beth Thomas have won the regional final of the Hampshire Senior Team Mathematics Challenge held at Alton College. Nineteen teams of the best mathematics students from local schools and colleges tackled a series of demanding mathematical challenges for over three hours.

In the recent BBC documentary, Will Britain Ever Have a Black Prime Minister? presented by British TV and movie star David Harewood, Peter Symonds College in Winchester was named as one of the five main contributors of students to Oxford and Cambridge nationally.

Peter Symonds students demonstrated their impressive musical talents at this year's annual college concert held at Thornden Hall in Chandler's Ford. The magnificent showcase included music from the College Concerto Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, College Choir and Big Band.

BTEC Sport students from Peter Symonds College have managed to raise over 250 pounds for local children's cancer charity, the Joe Glover Trust. The students ran a variety of sports events including wheelchair basketball, footgolf, 11 a-side football match and sumo suit challenges and held a cake sale, raising 260 pounds in just 50 minutes.

Earlier this year, Peter Symonds College students Jake Penny, Jordan Lee, Holly Richardson, Tim Chattell, Jo Lonergan and Danielle Thomas visited Gallipoli peninsular located in Thrace, Turkey for a field trip organised and funded by the Gallipoli Association.

Trainee solicitors, Vicky Bills and Elizabeth Dennis from Blake Morgan LLP, presented prizes to the winners of the Law Department's annual essay competition and spoke to the students about their own personal journey into the legal profession. Vicky and Lizzie also offered advice to students seeking a similar career path and answered questions in a subsequent Q&A session.

Peter Symonds student Lucy Rawlings was the recipient of a Radio One Teen Hero Award live on-stage at Wembley Arena at the 2016 BBC Radio 1 Teen Awards on Sunday 23rd October 2016. Together with her best friend Lauren Shea, Lucy received the Make It Digital Teen Hero Award in honour of her dedicated work inspiring young people to take up careers in the Technology, Engineering, Science and Maths sectors.

A level results for 2016 at Peter Symonds College are once again absolutely outstanding. The pass rate has been maintained once again at 99% with over a third of the grades awarded being at A* or A!

Peter Symonds College upper sixth Law, Sociology and Psychology students attended a 'Behind Bars' conference organised by True Life Conferences at the College where they were introduced to former prison inmates and a forensic psychologist.

Peter Symonds College student, Rachel Leigh, will be performing in the 2016 Winchester Festival of the Arts. Rachel lives in Bournemouth and is currently on the Hampshire Specialist Music Course at Peter Symonds College, where she studies piano alongside her cello specialism.

Talented textile students from Peter Symonds College have exhibited their works at a private showcase for the Changing Minds Through Neuroscience Inspired Textiles project, an enterprise run in joint collaboration with scientists from the University of Southampton.

Eleven Peter Symonds College students have received a financial boost towards their gap year plans with the receipt of a college bursary. The grants are awarded to students undertaking altruistic projects which will benefit the communities they are visiting. Their adventures are taking place across the world, from the UK and Europe as far as Africa, South America, Asia and Australia.

Peter Symonds College upper sixth student, Joe Samrai, has competed in the national finals of the Poetry By Heart competition in Cambridge. After winning the college competition, the county competition and the regional competition, (which made him the champion of the South of England) he competed against all the different regions of England in the national final.
